Full itinerary

Spend a day among the luminous interconnected lakes, whitewater falls, and pristine wild forests of Plitvice National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a boat ride across the teal waters of the largest lake for an up-close view, and stop in the quaint riverside town of Rastoke on the way.

After you’re picked up from your hotel, cruise out of the city into the picturesque Lika region, stopping in the watermill-dotted village of Rastoke. Stroll along the banks of the Slunjčica and Korana rivers as you admire the area’s distinctive rural architecture, with its houses built atop waterfalls and its traditional mills.

From there, continue on to Plitvice Lakes, Croatia’s oldest and most-visited national park. This UNESCO-designated site is a water-filled emerald gem, carved through the centuries by cascading waterfalls. Take in the spectacular natural beauty of lush forests, tumbling falls, and 16 crystal-clear, terraced lakes as you explore, gazing down into the translucent depths to see fish flitting by and up to watch butterflies fluttering overhead.

Board an electric boat to putter across the Kozjak lake as your guide describes the region’s fascinating karst geology, which results in the park’s breathtaking rock formations and water features. Board a panoramic train to be shuttled up to higher vantage points through the park, and wander along wooden boardwalks for closer looks at the park’s rich flora and fauna before your early evening return to Zagreb.
