Ingredients:
1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
2 cups of whole milk
4 egg yolks
1/2 cup of sugar
3 tbsp of all-purpose flour
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1 cup of heavy cream
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Cherries, for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a size that fits a 9-inch (23 cm) pie dish.
Place the pastry in the dish and prick the bottom with a fork. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
In a saucepan, heat the milk until warm. In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks with sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the flour to the egg yolk mixture and mix until well combined. Gradually pour in the warm milk, whisking constantly.
Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens (around 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour the custard over the baked puff pastry and let it cool completely.
In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the cooled custard layer.
Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with cherries.
Serve chilled and enjoy!
